On this page we compare online casinos run by operators licensed by Spelinspektionen (the Swedish Gambling Authority) – and only those. For each casino we show which company holds the licence, what the welcome offer actually requires of you and which payment methods the casino itself lists. The information comes from the casinos' own terms, Spelinspektionen's decisions and the legislation, and where something could not be confirmed we say so rather than guess.
It also means you will not find any made-up ratings here. The toplist below shows casinos with an active licence, and further down we go through what is worth checking before you sign up: wagering requirements, withdrawals, BankID, deposit limits and what changed when the ban on gambling with credit was tightened on 1 May 2026.
One more thing before the list. Gambling is entertainment that costs money, much like a cinema ticket. Set a budget before you start and treat any losses as the price of the fun – never as something you need to win back.
The starting point is simple: a casino without a Swedish licence is not included. After that we look at four areas that matter far more to you as a player than the number of slot machines or how polished the homepage looks.
We have not opened accounts, made deposits or withdrawn money at the casinos on the list. Everything we write about withdrawal times and customer service is therefore what the casino itself states in its terms or on its website, and we phrase it that way. When sources contradict each other – which happens more often than you might think – we leave the detail out.
Each piece of information is also given an internal assessment of how reliable it is. A figure that only appears on a single comparison site, or that is contradicted on the casino's own page, does not make it into the tables. Instead you will see a reference to the casino's terms, so you know that this particular point is one you need to check yourself.
How we weigh all of this together in our reviews, and which sub-scores we use, is explained on the page about how we rate casinos.
The range at a licensed casino is usually split into three parts: slots, table games such as roulette and blackjack, and live casino, where a real dealer is streamed in real time from a studio. At the largest operators we are talking about thousands of titles – LeoVegas and Unibet each state that they offer more than 3,000 games.
Every game has a built-in advantage for the casino, and it can be calculated. European roulette has 37 pockets, and because a straight bet pays 35 times the stake rather than 36, the house edge is 1/37, roughly 2.7%. American roulette has an extra zero and a house edge of 5.26%. No system or strategy changes that, so see the game as entertainment with a price tag rather than as a way to make money.
For slots, the game developer states a theoretical return to player, but casinos can run different versions of the same game. Always check the game's information panel before you start playing.
Which casino suits you depends on how you play. Someone who spins a few slots on their phone for a while in the evening has different needs from someone who would rather sit at a blackjack table with a real dealer. Instead of crowning winners on flimsy grounds, we go through what actually separates the casinos in each category, and where you can find our more detailed lists.
First look at what the wagering requirement is calculated on. At some casinos only the deposit has to be wagered, at others the deposit plus the bonus, and that makes a big difference to how much you need to play through before the money can be withdrawn. Also check the maximum stake while the bonus is active, how long the offer lasts and how much different games contribute.
Remember that the bonus is a one-off offer per licence holder. So there is no reason to rush – but there is no second chance either. Our reviews of current offers can be found under casino bonuses.
Withdrawal time is made up of two parts: how long the casino takes to process the request, and how quickly the payment method then transfers the money. Snabbare, for example, states that withdrawals via Trustly reach your bank account within 15 minutes after the withdrawal has been processed, while ComeOn says withdrawals are processed within 24 hours. Many casinos simply say that withdrawals are fast, without giving any time at all.
So read what the terms say about your first withdrawal and about account verification. The casinos that state specific times are gathered on our page about casinos with fast withdrawals.
With live games, the studio behind the tables determines what you can play. Evolution is listed as the live casino provider at several casinos on our list, including LeoVegas, Unibet, Casumo and ComeOn. The differences lie more in table limits, which game shows are available and how live games are treated in the bonus terms.
That last point is easy to miss: at LeoVegas, live games and Evolution's tables do not count towards the wagering requirement for the casino bonus at all, according to the terms. More about roulette, blackjack and game shows with real dealers can be found in our guide to live casino games.
Virtually all licensed casinos work in your phone's browser, but not all of them have their own app. LeoVegas, Unibet and Casumo state that they have apps for both iOS and Android, and Snabbare is available in the Swedish App Store. For Mr Green we have only been able to confirm poker apps, not a casino app.
On mobile, the most important thing is that BankID login, deposits and limit settings work smoothly on a small screen. We cover that in more detail on the page about mobile casinos.
The table shows information that the casinos publish themselves or that appears in Spelinspektionen's decisions. Where a detail is missing, contradictory or only comes from a single unreliable source, it says "See the casino's terms".

Offers checked on 15 October 2026. Terms and conditions apply. Offers change often, so always read the current terms at the casino before you deposit.
Two things are worth noting. LeoVegas and Mr Green calculate the wagering requirement on the deposit rather than the bonus, which means their figures cannot be compared directly with casinos that calculate it on both. And Betsson changed licence company in September 2026 according to industry media, so we are holding back the details until we have been able to check them against the casino's own terms.
Licence numbers, validity periods and more details per casino can be found in our full list of casinos with a Swedish licence.
Spelinspektionen is the authority that issues licences and supervises the gambling market in Sweden. A company offering casino games to Swedish players needs a licence for commercial online gambling, and that licence comes with a series of requirements designed to protect you.
You can check a company yourself in Spelinspektionen's licence register, which lists everyone holding a valid licence and which websites they operate. Compare the name there with the company name at the bottom of the casino's site. At LeoVegas, for example, Roar Vegas Ltd is named as the licence holder, not the brand.
Some of the requirements that follow from Spellagen (the Gambling Act):
So a Swedish licence says nothing about where a company has its head office – several of the licence companies on our list are registered in Malta. What that means in practice, and how to tell a brand from a licence company, is explained on our page about Swedish casinos.
Under Chapter 14, Section 9 of the Gambling Act, a licence holder may only offer or give a bonus the first time you play any of the company's games. That is why casinos with a Swedish licence have no loyalty bonuses, recurring deposit bonuses or VIP offers involving money.
The rule is tied to the licence holder, not the brand. If a company runs several sites on the same licence, you should expect a single bonus in total. The Administrative Court in Linköping has also ruled that a bonus split across several deposits counts as several bonuses, and that a bonus counts as offered as soon as it is published on the website.
Before you can play online you must set an upper limit for your deposits, per day, week and month. The operator must ensure that the limit cannot be exceeded, and if you set a limit above 10,000 kr per month, the company must contact you.
If you lower a limit, it applies immediately. If you raise it, the new level takes effect no earlier than 72 hours later – a built-in cooling-off period that is worth knowing about if you are ever tempted to raise it in the middle of a session. You must also decide whether your login time should be limited, but actually setting such a limit is voluntary.
Winnings from games at a company with a Swedish licence are tax-free. The same applies to all winnings of 100 kr or less, wherever you played.
If, on the other hand, you play with a company that targets the Swedish market without holding the Swedish licence the game requires, winnings above 100 kr are taxable – even if the company is licensed in another EU country. The tax is 30% of the net winnings, that is, winnings minus stakes per operator and calendar year. Losses with one company cannot be offset against winnings with another. The rules have more detail than this, and if in doubt, Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency) is the right authority to ask.
At licensed casinos, in practice the bank account is at the centre. Most casinos on our list state Trustly, and several also offer Swish. With Trustly you choose your bank, identify yourself in your bank's app or with e-ID, and the money is taken directly from your account without a card or separate e-wallet. According to its terms, Trustly charges you no fee, but your bank or a currency conversion may cost something.
Swish works at casinos through payment institutions rather than through the casino's own bank. In autumn 2025 Zimpler became the first payment institution outside the banks to connect directly to Swish, with solutions for both payments and payouts. Whether you can withdraw winnings to Swish, however, varies between casinos, so check the cashier at the casino you choose.
BankID is not a payment method but an electronic ID. It is used to identify you when you register and log in, and to approve bank payments. The law does not mention BankID by name, but it is the dominant e-ID in Sweden. There are also flows where the deposit via your bank verifies who you are at the same time – Snabbare, for example, describes how the account is created as part of the BankID verification.
An overview of the most common methods, with pros and cons, can be found under casino payment methods.
On 1 May 2026 an extended ban on gambling with credit came into force through Act 2026:90. Previously, operators were not allowed to offer or provide credit for stakes. Now they may not allow or contribute to gambling being financed with credit either, and they must take appropriate measures to prevent it.
The ban covers all types of credit: credit cards, invoices, bank loans, other lenders and even loans from relatives. Licensed online casinos must block credit cards as a payment method and should prevent e-wallets from being topped up with credit cards. Debit cards that take money from your own account are not normally regarded as credit. Casumo, for example, writes in its FAQ that credit cards are no longer accepted from 1 May 2026.
A grey area remains: if your bank account has an overdraft facility, the preparatory works treat it as credit, but the operator can rarely see this and does not have to investigate every payment. In practice, then, the responsibility for not gambling with borrowed money also lies with you.
The ban is aimed at operators, not at you as a player. You face no sanctions from Spelinspektionen, and an operator may not withhold your deposits or winnings on the grounds that the stake was financed with credit.
Starting to play at a licensed casino only takes a few minutes, but the order matters. We suggest doing it like this:
If you change your mind, you can always lower your limits immediately or take a 24-hour break using the casino's own tool.
Behind most casino brands are large groups, some of them listed on the stock exchange. The owner does not in itself determine how safe a casino is – what counts is the licence and how the company manages it – but the ownership picture explains why licence companies and terms sometimes change.
The last example shows why we always start from the licence holder. Two casinos in the same group can have completely separate licences, and then the bonus rule applies to each of them. Conversely, one and the same licence company can run several brands.
On social media and in search results, casinos sometimes appear that tempt you with more bonuses and fewer restrictions. Often they lack a Swedish licence. You then lose several protections at once: no mandatory deposit limit, no connection to Spelpaus (the national self-exclusion register) and no Swedish authority supervising the company. Winnings above 100 kr may also become taxable, as described above.
Some signs to watch out for:
If you come across a casino like this, simply search for the company name in the licence register. If the company is not there, it has no Swedish licence, and then it does not belong on our list.
Set limits you can afford and take regular breaks. If gambling starts to take more time or money than you intended, help is available, and the earlier you act, the easier it usually is.
Through Spelpaus you can exclude yourself from gambling with every operator holding a Swedish licence, both online and in shops. You choose between 10 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or until further notice, which means at least 12 months. An exclusion cannot be cancelled or ended early.
During the exclusion, operators are also not allowed to send you direct marketing. Spelpaus does not, however, cover general advertising or sites without a Swedish licence, which is yet another reason to stick to licensed casinos.
Stödlinjen, the national gambling helpline, can be reached on 020-81 91 00 and via chat at stodlinjen.se. It is run by Region Stockholm with support from Folkhälsomyndigheten (the Public Health Agency of Sweden). More advice and tools are gathered on our page about responsible gambling.
Yes, if the operator has a Swedish licence, winnings are tax-free. Winnings of 100 kr or less are always tax-free. With a company that targets Sweden without a Swedish licence, winnings above 100 kr are taxable at 30% of the net winnings, even if the company is licensed in another EU country.
One per licence holder. Spellagen (the Gambling Act) only allows a bonus the first time you play with the operator. If the company has several brands on the same licence, you should expect a single bonus in total.
No. Since 1 May 2026, licensed online casinos must block credit cards, and the ban also covers invoices and other loans. Debit cards that take money from your own account are not normally regarded as credit.
An increase takes effect no earlier than 72 hours later. A reduction applies immediately. You set the limit per day, week and month.
The law requires the operator to verify your identity securely, for example with a secure e-ID. The law does not mention BankID, but in practice it is the dominant e-ID in Sweden.
