How We Rate Casinos
This is how we rate casinos at KasinoHitta: each casino receives a score between 0 and 10 in five areas – Licence & safety, Bonus terms, Game range, Payments and Responsible gambling. All five carry equal weight, and the overall score is the average rounded to one decimal place. Here we explain what we look at in each area, what the scores are based on today and what must never influence them.
We only review casinos licensed by Spelinspektionen (the Swedish Gambling Authority). An operator without a Swedish licence therefore receives no score at all, however generous its offer may look.
Five sub-scores with equal weight
We have chosen a simple model that is easy to follow. Every review contains a table with the five sub-scores, so you can see for yourself where a casino is strong and where it falls short.
Giving all sub-scores equal weight is a deliberate choice. A large welcome offer should not be able to make up for unclear terms or weak responsible gambling tools. A casino that wants a high overall score must therefore maintain an even level across all five areas. Two casinos with the same overall score can still have different strengths, so do look at the sub-scores for what matters most to you.
| Sub-score | What we assess |
|---|---|
| Licence & safety | Validity of the licence, licence holder, owner and how openly the casino presents its terms |
| Bonus terms | Wagering requirements, maximum bet, validity period, game contribution and how clearly the terms are written |
| Game range | Breadth and variety, game providers, live casino and the option to play in demo mode |
| Payments | Payment methods, withdrawal times as stated by the casino, fees and minimum deposit |
| Responsible gambling | Limits, self-exclusion, self-assessment test and how easy the tools are to find |
A worked example with a hypothetical casino: if it scores 9 for licence and safety, 7 for bonus terms, 8 for game range, 8 for payments and 9 for responsible gambling, the overall score is (9 + 7 + 8 + 8 + 9) / 5 = 41 / 5 = 8.2.
Licence & safety
The foundation is a valid Swedish licence. We check the licence holder, licence number and how long the licence is valid in Spelinspektionen’s licence register, and we look at which company owns the brand. We also note whether several brands share the same licence, since that affects, among other things, who can receive a welcome bonus.
Beyond the licence itself, we assess how transparent the casino is. Are the terms easy to find and read? Is it clear who runs the site? Is the information about responsible gambling and contact options clear?
Bonus terms
Here we assess the terms, not the size of the bonus. A large amount with tough terms can be worse for you than a smaller offer that is easy to understand. We look at:
- the wagering requirement – how many times and on what amount the money must be played through
- the maximum bet while the bonus is active
- how long the bonus is valid
- the game contribution, i.e. how much different games count towards wagering
- whether the terms are clearly written and easy to find
Under Chapter 14, Section 9 of Spellagen (the Gambling Act), Swedish casinos may only offer a bonus the first time you play, so it is the welcome offer we assess. We explain how the requirements are calculated in our guide to wagering requirements.
Game range
We assess the breadth of the range rather than the number of games. Are there slots from several different providers, table games such as roulette and blackjack, and a live casino with real dealers? Can you try slots in demo mode before playing for money? We only state the number of games when the casino itself provides it, and then as the casino’s own figure.
We also look at how the casino presents the return to player, RTP. The same game can exist in versions with different RTPs, and it is an advantage if you can easily see which version applies in the game’s information panel.
Payments
Under payments we assess which methods are available for deposits and withdrawals – for example Trustly, Swish and BankID-based solutions – which withdrawal times the casino states, whether fees are charged and how high the minimum deposit is. We report withdrawal times as the casino’s own information until we have carried out our own tests.
Since 1 May 2026 operators may not allow gambling funded with credit, and credit cards must be blocked as a payment method. We check whether the casino’s terms reflect this and whether it is clear which cards can be used.
Responsible gambling
All Swedish casinos must offer deposit limits, self-exclusion and a self-assessment test, and online casinos must be able to exclude you immediately for 24 hours. Since the basics are legal requirements, we mainly assess how well the tools work according to the casino’s own information: how easy they are to find, whether you can set a time limit, and whether the casino refers you to Spelpaus (the national self-exclusion register) and Stödlinjen (the national gambling helpline).
A casino that makes it awkward to lower a limit, or hides the tools deep in its menus, receives a lower sub-score even if everything is formally in place.
Where the information comes from
Every piece of information behind a score must have a source. We primarily use Spelinspektionen’s licence register, the casinos’ own terms and help pages, information from game providers, and the legislation. When a detail cannot be confirmed, or when sources contradict each other, we do not publish it and do not let it affect the score. Instead we refer you to the casino’s current terms.
How we rate today – provisional scores
All scores on KasinoHitta are currently provisional. They are based on the casinos’ published terms and game ranges and on information from Spelinspektionen, game providers and the legislation. We have not yet opened accounts, made deposits and withdrawals or contacted customer service at the casinos, so every score is labelled “Provisional score based on terms and game range”.
We will add our own withdrawal and customer service tests to the reviews. When a test has been carried out, we update the score and state clearly which tests have been done.
When scores are updated
Terms, bonuses and payment methods change often. When a casino changes its terms, we go through the review and adjust the sub-scores if necessary. Each review shows when the information was last checked.
What never affects the score
KasinoHitta is funded through affiliate agreements, which means we may receive a commission when a reader opens an account at a casino via our links. Such agreements never affect the scores. A casino cannot pay for a higher score, and we never change information to make an offer look better.
All reviewed casinos with a Swedish licence are assessed using the same five sub-scores, so you can compare them on equal terms.
Frequently asked questions
How is the overall score calculated?
The overall score is the average of five sub-scores, each ranging from 0 to 10. All sub-scores carry equal weight, and the result is rounded to one decimal place.
Why does it say the score is provisional?
The scores are currently based on the casinos’ published terms and game ranges. We have not yet made our own deposits, withdrawals or customer service contacts, and the scores will be updated once those tests have been carried out.
Can a casino pay for a better score?
No. We may receive a commission when a reader opens an account via our links, but affiliate agreements never affect the scores. All casinos are assessed on the same five areas.
Do you review casinos without a Swedish licence?
No. We only review casinos licensed by Spelinspektionen. Operators without a Swedish licence receive no score at all.
