KingMidas Games joins Yggdrasil’s YGG Masters program

KingMidas Games joins Yggdrasil’s YGG Masters program

Swedish game developer Yggdrasil Gaming has signed a new content partner. Studio KingMidas Games is joining Yggdrasil’s partner programme YGG Masters, both companies confirmed this week. The deal gives KingMidas access to Yggdrasil’s production platform Game in a Box, built to sharply cut development time for new slots.

What’s new

KingMidas Games has partnered with Yggdrasil to join its YGG Masters programme and harness its proprietary Game in a Box technology, enabling the studio to create and launch games faster while expanding its international reach. Under the agreement, the team gets flexibility to adjust mechanics, rework math models and server-side logic, and test different gameplay directions throughout development.

KingMidas Games brings a portfolio of more than 150 titles, along with collaborations with renowned Japanese IP holders that add recognisable characters and distinctive gameplay to Yggdrasil’s growing network of partner studios. Through YGG Masters the studio also gains access to Yggdrasil’s commercial support and distribution network of more than 2,000 brands.

Game in a Box is the technology that makes the partnership possible. The platform brings the whole development process, from design to certification, into one system. Traditional slot development normally takes months, but with Game in a Box a playable prototype can be built in a day, and certification that once took ten weeks now takes ten days. Each title carries a fixed fee of €22,000 for the technology build. The first game built entirely on the platform was the sequel Raptor 2, released in November 2025.

What it means for you as a player

Yggdrasil was founded in Stockholm. It was started in 2013 by Fredrik Elmqvist, former CEO of NetEnt, with the ambition to innovate the casino industry. The company holds a Swedish licence from Spelinspektionen under chapter 11 of the Gambling Act, a permit required since 1 July 2023 for anyone who manufactures, supplies, installs or modifies gambling software, valid until 30 June 2028.

For you playing at a Swedish-licensed casino, this means new titles from KingMidas Games could eventually appear in the game lobby, since the games are distributed through Yggdrasil’s network of licensed operators. The deal itself is about production and distribution rather than a single game launching in Sweden right away, but it points towards more, and faster, releases ahead.

Whatever new titles arrive, it’s worth remembering that help is available via Stödlinjen.se, and that Spelpaus.se lets you exclude yourself from all licensed gambling in Sweden.

The bigger picture

Game in a Box is designed to solve a problem that has long troubled the industry: studios being forced to reuse old mechanics and reskin existing games rather than invest in original content, because traditional development is slow and expensive. By opening the platform to outside studios through YGG Masters, Yggdrasil is building a network of partners who all benefit from the same faster production line.

KingMidas Games is far from the first studio to join. Yggdrasil is welcoming yet another studio to the YGG Masters family, noting that KingMidas brings distinctive gameplay and Japanese IP collaborations that add something fresh to the programme. For Swedish players, that means a broader and more varied range of slots at operators using Yggdrasil’s platform, as more partner studios join and more titles move through the faster production pipeline.
