New supplier Expanse Studios launches in Sweden

New supplier Expanse Studios launches in Sweden

Game studio Expanse Studios has started delivering its content to a Swedish-licensed casino operator. The launch happened in mid-October 2026 and marks the studio’s first revenue-generating deal in Sweden, according to a press release from parent company Meridian Holdings.

What’s new

Expanse Studios is the B2B game development division of US-based Meridian Holdings (Nasdaq: MRDN). The company announced that its B2B division, Expanse Studios, has gone live with an operator licensed by the Swedish Gambling Authority. The launch is the studio’s first live operator deployment in Sweden and the first commercial activation of the software provider licence Spelinspektionen awarded in December 2025, valid through December 2030.

The operator involved has not been named, and Meridian has not disclosed the financial terms or projected revenue from the agreement. Expanse Studios develops and distributes casino content including slots, crash games, turn-based strategy games and card games, with a portfolio of almost 100 proprietary titles distributed to more than 1,800 online casino brands worldwide. The studio holds content certifications across 14 jurisdictions in Europe, Latin America and Africa.

What it means for you as a player

In practice, the launch means another supplier now has clearance to deliver its games to Swedish-licensed casinos. Every operator in Sweden must hold a Spelinspektionen licence, and player activity is heavily concentrated on licensed platforms, which makes each certified supplier relationship a route to regulated demand rather than grey-market traffic. As a player you likely won’t notice anything immediately, but over time you may come across more slots and game variants from Expanse Studios at your new Swedish casino.

Whichever supplier is behind a game, the same basic rule applies: only play on sites with a Swedish licence, where you’ll recognise Spelinspektionen’s logo. If you ever need a break from gambling, you can exclude yourself entirely via Spelpaus.se, and support is available through Stödlinjen.se.

The bigger picture

Sweden’s regulatory framework requires every operator to hold a licence from Spelinspektionen, and because most player spending sits with licensed platforms, a supplier needs a relationship with a licensed operator to reach the regulated market. That explains why it took almost a year from Expanse Studios securing its Swedish permit to the actual launch. For Meridian, the Swedish launch supports the company’s broader strategy of expanding business-to-business revenue alongside its consumer-facing gaming operations.

Sweden remains one of Europe’s most regulated and mature iGaming markets, and more international studios have sought entry in recent years to reach Swedish players through licensed brands. Expanse Studios’ portfolio of online slots and crash games becomes another addition to the growing catalogue that Swedish licence holders can draw on.
