Evolution reports higher revenue as profit margin slips

Swedish gaming technology company Evolution published its third-quarter 2026 results on 23 October. Revenue grew compared with the same period last year, but both the operating margin and earnings per share declined. Evolution is one of the largest live-casino suppliers to Swedish-licensed casinos, making the report relevant to anyone who plays on such sites.

What’s new

Net revenue rose to 526.1 million euros for the quarter. Evolution reported net revenue of EUR 526.1 million for the third quarter of 2026, an increase of 3.7 percent compared with the same quarter the previous year. At the same time, profitability came under some pressure. EBITDA came in at EUR 333.8 million, against expectations of EUR 343 million, with an EBITDA margin of 63.4 percent compared with 66.4 percent a year earlier.

Earnings per share actually rose despite the lower margin. Earnings per share were EUR 1.31, up from EUR 1.25 in the same quarter last year. Other key figures showed a clearer decline. Operating profit fell to EUR 290.3 million and net profit for the period to EUR 243.3 million, while adjusted EBITDA rose to EUR 345.9 million with a margin of 65.8 percent. Analysts had expected a stronger result. The expected EBITDA figure, according to FactSet consensus based on seven analysts’ estimates, was EUR 343 million.

More interesting for players is how the different parts of the business performed. Live and RNG revenue grew by 2.6 percent and 10.1 percent respectively compared with the previous year. RNG stands for random number generator games, essentially regular slots, while live refers to table games with real dealers. Cash flow from operations was also strong. Cash flow from operating activities amounted to EUR 366.1 million.

What this means for you as a player

Evolution isn’t a casino itself, but a technology supplier. The company develops and licenses B2B live casino software for online casino operators. That means when you play live casino at a Swedish-licensed site, chances are Evolution’s table studios are behind it. Both slots and table games from the company grew during the quarter, suggesting continued demand even as the profit margin came under pressure.

Steady cash flow effectively means the company can keep investing in new tables, studios and game formats that later appear at the operators using Evolution’s products. It doesn’t directly affect your deposits, withdrawals or BankID login, but it sits behind part of the range you encounter when logging into a Swedish-licensed casino.

The bigger picture

Evolution is one of Sweden’s largest listed gaming technology companies and one of the most globally established players in live casino. Evolution AB is a Swedish gaming technology company headquartered in Stockholm. The company already owns several brands used by casinos around the world. It offers casino and live game shows under the Evolution and Ezugi brands, online casino under the NetEnt brand, and casino games and software under the Red Tiger brand. Continued revenue growth, despite a weaker margin, shows that demand for live casino and digital slots remains strong, which in turn shapes what reaches players through Swedish operators.
