Gates of Olympus

By Mikael Sandberg · Fact-checked by Emma Bergqvist against Spelinspektionen's licence register · Updated 30 October 2026

Gates of Olympus

Gates of Olympus is Pragmatic Play’s slot themed on Zeus and Greek mythology, built on a grid of six reels and five rows. There are no paylines: eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid give a win, and winning symbols disappear so that new ones can drop down. In the bonus round, the multipliers are added together into a shared total – that is where the game carries its real weight.

In this review we explain how the mechanics work, what Ante Bet costs in kronor and öre and where you can find the game at casinos with a Swedish licence. The RTP figure comes directly from Pragmatic Play, while some of the other values come from reference sites – the table makes clear which.

Beyond RTP, the game information contains more figures that show how the game behaves. According to the overview at OLBG, roughly 28.82% of spins produce a win, free spins trigger on average once every 448 spins and the 5,000x max win has a probability of roughly 1 in 718,391.

Gates of Olympus RTP and versions

Pragmatic Play states an RTP of 96.50% for Gates of Olympus. According to OLBG, the game also exists in versions with 95.51% and 94.50%, and the casino chooses which version runs. The difference looks small but adds up over time: on SEK 1,000 wagered, the theoretical return is SEK 965 in the standard version and SEK 945 in the lowest.

Do this instead: open the game menu, go to the rules or information page and read the percentage that applies at your particular casino. At 96.50%, the theoretical return is 965 kr per 1,000 kr wagered – a long-term average, not a promise of how the evening will end.

How to play Gates of Olympus

Because symbols pay anywhere, you do not need to worry about lines. All that counts is how many matching symbols are on the whole grid after each tumble.

  1. Choose your stake. Which stake levels are available is decided by the casino.
  2. Decide whether you want to play with Ante Bet (see below) or with a normal stake.
  3. Spin. If eight or more matching symbols are on the grid, the win is paid, the symbols are removed and new ones drop down.
  4. The tumbles continue as long as new wins are formed. When no more wins occur, the spin is over.

A single spin can produce several wins in a row thanks to the tumbling reels.

Multiplier symbols can appear in both the base game and the bonus round. This means that even an ordinary spin can sometimes pay more than the symbols themselves are worth.

Paytable

The crown is the most valuable symbol and pays 50 times the stake when 12 or more land on the grid. The gems pay the least – the blue one between 0.25 and 2 times the stake. Six scatters pay 100 times the stake on top of triggering free spins.

Ante Bet – higher stake, double the chance of a bonus

With Ante Bet activated, your stake is 25% higher, and in return the chance of triggering free spins is doubled according to reference sites. If you play for 10 kr per spin, each spin therefore costs 12.50 kr.

The feature does not change the game’s basic character, but your budget runs out faster. Factor in the 25 per cent when deciding how much you want to play for in a session.

Gates of Olympus bonus features

Tumbling reels

Every win triggers a new tumble. Winning symbols are removed, the remaining ones drop down and new ones fill in from above. A single spin can therefore produce several wins in a row.

Multipliers up to 500x

The multiplier symbols have values from 2x and, according to Pragmatic Play, up to 500x. By comparison, the regular symbols pay up to 50 times the stake according to the provider, so it is the multipliers that account for the really big outcomes.

Free spins with a growing total multiplier

Four or more scatters give 15 free spins. During the round, every multiplier that lands is added to a running total multiplier: if the round has collected 2x and 5x, the total stands at 7x, and it can keep growing for as long as the round lasts.

Three or more scatters during free spins give five extra spins. It is the combination of more spins and a growing total that makes the bonus round so decisive for the game’s outcome.

Our verdict on the Gates of Olympus slot

Gates of Olympus offers plenty of movement on screen – tumbles, multipliers and chains of wins – yet the outcome is still heavily concentrated in the bonus round. Volatility is stated as high, and it shows: many spins give small amounts, while a single bonus round can account for most of the result.

One plus is that Pragmatic Play publishes the RTP itself, which makes it easier to compare with the version at your casino. Ante Bet, on the other hand, is something to use with care, as it makes every spin more expensive. Set a limit for both money and time before you start.

Pros

  • The provider publishes the RTP openly
  • No lines to keep track of
  • The total multiplier gives the bonus round a clear dramatic arc
  • Available at casinos with a Swedish licence, including Unibet

Cons

  • High volatility with long periods without a bonus
  • Ante Bet means your budget lasts a shorter time
  • Fast pace with lots of animations – easy to lose track of time

Play Gates of Olympus for free in demo mode

If you want to see how the total multiplier builds up without using your own money, you can play Gates of Olympus for free in demo mode where a demo version is offered. You then get play-money credits, and the rules are the same as in the real-money game. You can find the game’s official page at Pragmatic Play.

It is a good idea to use the demo to compare a normal stake with Ante Bet. You will then see how much faster your balance shrinks with the higher stake, and can decide whether the feature is worth it for you.

Demo mode, however, tells you nothing about which RTP version a particular casino has chosen. You will only find that in the game’s information panel at the casino.
