Betsson at a glance

According to Spelinspektionen (the Swedish Gambling Authority), the previous licence company, Betsson Nordic Ltd, still holds a licence valid until 31 December 2028. The new licence for Spin Nordic Ltd was granted on 24 August 2026, according to trade media. Reports differ on what the new licence covers – some sources state both casino and betting, others casino only – so we are leaving that row open until we have been able to check the register.

What the licence change means for you

• You need a new account, and registration starts from scratch with identification and your Swedish personal identity number.
• You must set deposit limits again, since the requirement applies at every new registration.
• The terms are new, so read them even if you have played at Betsson for years.
• If you have questions about the balance or history of your old account, customer service is the place to ask.

Is Betsson legitimate?

Betsson holds an active Swedish licence and is covered by the requirements of Spellagen (the Gambling Act), and that is the most important point. It is also worth knowing that in May 2025 Spelinspektionen gave Betsson Nordic Ltd a warning and a financial penalty of 6.5 million kronor for shortcomings in customer due diligence under the anti-money-laundering rules.

After the licence change, Swedish players have also criticised a new clause in the terms, 8.9, which gives Betsson the right to refuse or restrict play for any reason. Whatever Betsson offers, the same legal rule applies as for every Swedish licence holder: a bonus may only be given on the first occasion you play. That means you can only receive one welcome offer, and no recurring bonuses are allowed. Whether you, as a former customer, are entitled to a new welcome bonus on your new account should be stated in the terms – ask customer service if it is unclear.

How to assess the terms

When you read Betsson’s bonus terms, four things decide how much the offer is worth in practice:

• Wagering requirement (omsättningskrav): how many times you must play through the bonus, and whether the requirement is calculated on the bonus or on deposit plus bonus.
• Maximum stake: the highest stake you may place per spin or round while the bonus is active.
• Validity: how long you have to meet the requirement.
• Game contributions: how much of your stake counts in different games, with table and live games often counting less.

Worked example

A made-up example, not Betsson’s terms: you deposit 1,000 kr and receive 1,000 kr in bonus with a 35x wagering requirement. If the requirement is calculated on the bonus, you need to wager 35,000 kr. If it is calculated on deposit plus bonus, it becomes 2,000 × 35 = 70,000 kr – twice as much. That difference is easy to miss but decides whether the bonus is realistic for you. Common mistakes with welcome bonuses

• Staking above the maximum while the bonus is active, which can lead to winnings being withdrawn.
• Playing games that do not count towards wagering and believing the requirement is going down.
• Forgetting the validity period and losing the bonus when time runs out.
• Choosing the biggest bonus even though the wagering is more than you really want to play for.

Game selection

We have not been able to verify Betsson’s game selection – neither the number of games, the providers nor which individual titles are available. We will not guess; we will update this section when we have been able to go through the lobby.

Before you register you can do a quick check yourself: search the lobby for the games you usually play and see which providers appear in the filter. A large casino normally has both popular slots and table games from several studios, but only the lobby shows what is available right now.

Also remember that the same slot can exist in several RTP versions. Open the game’s info screen and read which return-to-player percentage the casino uses, so you know what you are playing.

Live casino

We have not been able to examine the live casino either, so we cannot say which studios Betsson uses or which tables are available. What we can say is what to keep an eye on when you play live.

Live games are streamed from studios with real dealers, and you play in real time. The house edge remains in every variant, and no strategy changes that. In single-zero European roulette the house edge is 1/37, roughly 2.7%. Decide before you sit down how much you want to play for, and stop when that amount is gone – the pace of live games makes it easy to play longer than planned. If you play with a bonus, live games also commonly contribute less to wagering than slots, so read the bonus terms first.

Deposits and withdrawals at Betsson

The lists of payment methods and withdrawal limits found online come from other comparison sites, and we have not been able to confirm them with Betsson. That is why we are not listing any methods, limits or times here. Since 1 May 2026 an extended credit ban has applied. Operators must block credit cards as a payment method, and if you pay by card it must be a debit card drawing money from your own account. Invoices and other forms of credit are not permitted.

Winnings from games at operators with a Swedish licence are tax-free for you as a player. That also applies to Betsson as long as the licence is active. Had you played at an operator without a Swedish licence that targets Sweden, winnings above 100 kr would instead have been taxable.

Betsson on mobile

We have not been able to confirm whether there is a dedicated app for Swedish players. Check in the App Store or Google Play that any app is published by Betsson or the licence company before you download it.

If you play in your phone’s browser, the most important thing to check is that you can reach your limits, your gambling history and the break function as easily as on a computer. Save the address as a bookmark to reduce the risk of landing on a copycat or an unlicensed site via a search advert.

Customer service

We have not been able to verify the contact options and opening hours for Betsson’s customer service. After the licence change, customer service is nevertheless the natural point of contact for questions about your old account and about the terms that apply to the new one.

These are good questions to ask before making your first deposit:

• As a former customer, am I entitled to the welcome offer on my new account?
• Which payment methods can I use for withdrawals, and is there a minimum withdrawal amount?
• How long does a withdrawal take once it has been approved?
• Which documents might you ask for to verify my account?

Ask in writing rather than by phone when the question concerns money or bonus terms. That way you have the answer saved should a dispute arise later.

Responsible gambling tools

We have not been able to examine which extra tools Betsson offers. As a Swedish licence holder, however, Betsson must meet the legal requirements. Before you can play you must set a deposit limit per day, week and month. If you lower the limit it takes effect immediately, while an increase applies after 72 hours at the earliest.

Betsson must also offer a test where you can assess your gambling habits, the option to exclude yourself for a set period or indefinitely, and an immediate 24-hour break.
